Getting to Know Christine

One of my favorite things about working at USEFULL, besides seeing the amazing zero waste impact, is working with some incredible people. This month, we are highlighting the people who make USEFULL run.

This week, we are highlighting our wonderful Customer Engagement Manager, Christine Francois. 

We started off the interview by asking Christine how she originally became interested in sustainability. According to Christine, her passion for the environment started with the ocean – she did a marine science internship when she was in high school, where she learned many new things about fish and the ocean. This inspired her to become a marine science major in college, which allowed her to learn even more about the environment and sustainability. 

This passion was one reason why Christine chose to work at USEFULL. After learning about the ocean and seeing trash strewn everywhere, Christine was drawn to USEFULL’s mission to reduce plastic use. When she found a position that aligned – helping with program implementation and managing the help and support desk – she decided that USEFULL was the right place for her. 

We next asked Christine about the most rewarding and most challenging parts of working at USEFULL. Her response? She loves hearing the positive comments from campuses and communities. And the challenging part? “Seeing people try to solve the plastic problem with more plastic.”

Outside of work, Christine has also adopted some sustainable habits into her personal life. She uses reusable napkins: “I haven’t bought paper towels in two years!” she says. She also always uses her reusable grocery bags when shopping. 

We finished the interview with a few fun questions. 

In the spirit of the *best* thing to put in a USEFULL cup, what is your go-to coffee order?

A chai latte with almond milk and a shot of espresso! It’s the best. 

What are five songs you can’t live without?

I’ll go with anything Bob Marley and Latin music!

What is a snapshot of an ordinary moment in your life that brings you great joy?

I really enjoy walking outside when it’s lightly raining!
